Gavin has a little box stuffed full of notes. Feel free to stuff one in there, if you like, or come say hi.
The notes may just be all doodles.

[ Doghren. She's wriggling helplessly where he's trapped her, trying to get back to Gavin's delicious face. ]

She's fine, Alistair. [He held out his hands - offering to take the dog for a moment - while casting a worried look at Alistair.]
Are you alright? Did something happen?
no subject
[ Even with the dark hiding most of the evidence that he's recently BAWLED HIS EYES OUT, that probably doesn't sound convincing. He lets Doghren loose so she can attack Gavin with affection and relents, a little. ]
Had it out with Zevran. I don't want to talk about it. [ So he should probably offer another topic. ] Why are you sleeping out here?
no subject
[It was so unconvincing that Gavin took the 'no' as an answer to his first question, rather than the second, and gave Alistair a sympathetic look even as Doghren tried to viciously maul him with kisses and love. He scrubbed her head roughly between his hands, but his eyes kept on Alistair.]
[Had it out with Zevran. That sounded bad.]
I got tired, and here seemed good. Are you - looking for somewhere to sleep? You're free to join me, Alistair, I don't mind. [The fact that he desperately wanted to ask was obvious - but he was trying to respect Alistair's 'I don't want to talk about it'. Trying.]

[ But he gets up, having been invited, and re-flops alongside Gavin, who Isn't Asking. Gavin is great. Alistair tries to provide some encouragement for him to continue not asking: ]
Don't you have a bethrothed noble you should be sleeping with?
no subject
[If it were someone else, Gavin would just throw an arm around Alistair's shoulder and give him a hug, but -- .... No, actually, that's exactly what he does, though it's less a hug than it is a sideways squeeze-cuddle, sorry Alistair.]
Even if I were picky, I think I could make room for you.
And I'm sure he's off somewhere being handsome and noble. We tend to end up on opposite shifts.
no subject
That's inconvenient. You should complain.
no subject
[Since he wasn't immediately shoved off, Gavin took that as permission, and just snuggled in closer because that was his natural inclination.]
Have you met Harding? I don't think she would take it very kindly if I said "Hey, can I switch my shift so that I can cuddle with a human noble".
no subject
[ He knows of Harding. He hasn't spoken to her. But he'll trust Gavin's assessment, and accept Gavin's closer snuggling with the same baffled and quiet grace as he accepted the initial gesture. After a moment, he sort of leans into it, like a dog, which is probably because dogs are who taught him how to cuddle. ]
You wouldn't have to tell her why. You could make up something else. You're nursing a litter of orphaned kittens and need to feed them on a particular schedule.
